What is Everidae Sauce?

Everidae Sauce is your secret ingredient that will impart excellent and unique flavor to every meal! It’s also a sweet and spicy concoction of Carrots, Onions, Garlic, Habañero peppers, Cider Vinegar, Sugar, Salt, & Fruit Pectin that will keep your guests begging for more. It’s unique texture and consistency make it ideal for most cooking methods but we recommend mixing it with other foods to see what you get! Cream cheese, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, pesto, hummus, the possibilities are endless! Brush, Dip, Pour, Mix.

Where can I get it?

We are recovering from a two year hiatus and are starting small. Retail jars of Everidae will be available through our website. Additionally, the Mitten Brewing Company (as seen on our map) continues to sell their “Heater” pizza with Everidae as the sauce in a wonderfully sweet and spicy pie.  The Mitten will soon be carrying retail jars of the sauce for purchase but we strongly suggest you stay for a beer and a bite, watch the game and take a load off. Just don’t forget to grab a sauce on your way out.

How do I use it?

Use as is or include in your favorite dishes to add a sweet and spicy twist to any dish! See our recipes section for user submitted recipes and use suggestions. Spread on bagels, pour over sandwiches, spoon onto pizza, eggs, and pasta, even baste over ribs! Use Everidae sauce to turn up the flavor on your favorite soup or add to salsa to get the perfect heat. We have yet to find a combination that doesn’t work!

What’s with that crazy name?

We use Everidae every day! This is no Everyday Sauce…besides, spelling it that way would be so…everyday.

How is it special?

Impeccable flavor you can use to your cooking advantage! Although one of the hottest peppers around, Everidae tames the Habañero into a sweeter more manageable spicy flavor that adds character to everything! It probably is an exceptional all-purpose cooking sauce bent on taking over the world one taste bud at a time….but we’ll just say it’s DELICIOUS.

How SPICY is it?

Most people who have walked on the spicy side have had Jalapenos which rank around 3,500 to 9,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units). Habañero usually fall at around 100,000 to 350,000 SHU! Wow! No wonder we had to tone these guys down!

Our Mild Everidae is more sweet than spicy and can be enjoyed by most. Fans call our Medium Everidae the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. (Our team regularly burns through a jar a week!) Hot Everidae Sauce is for the veteran spicy lover. If you have mastered Tabasco, Frank’s can’t bring it, and you take your Pad Thai “extra spicy,” then Hot is for you. How much does it cost?

Website pricing will vary as we get back in the swing of things. Current retail price through is $10 per 12oz jar with $5 Flat Rate shipping. Once we have transitioned back into retail stores across Michigan availability and pricing may vary from retailer to retailer. Please shop around and find the pricing that works for you or support your local store owners! Most local retailers carry all three levels of heat (Mild, Medium & Hot). What is its shelf-life?

If refrigerated properly after opening, expect Everidae to last at least a year in your fridge. (Ha…like anyone can resist it that long!)

My sauce is rather runny… What gives?

To get the best mix from you sauce, shake it up! We chose to use natural fruit pectin to give Everidae Sauce its wonderful texture and versatility without using food stabilizers. The viscosity of pectin decreases with increases in temperature. If you really like your sauce to be thick like a relish for dipping and spreading, chill it before use. We think the unique texture of the sauce adds to its versatility! Have you ever tried to melt jelly into soup or spread it over ribs? Uck. (Hint: For best texture when spreading over Baked Brie, pre-chill for 15-20 minutes in freezer)
